This inaugural issue addresses a broad range of communication concerns encompassing intercultural interaction, political communication, identity formation, international rhetoric, interpersonal relationships, and gendered public opinion. The articles examine symbolic interaction among employees from different ethnic backgrounds (Hutapea, 2018), political communication among members of the Jakarta Regional House of Representatives in deliberations over the reclamation regulation (Edinbur & Budianto, 2018), the construction of self-identity among female laundry workers at Daar el-Qolam Islamic boarding school (Sudarmika, 2018), Sukarno?s anti-imperialist and anti-capitalist rhetoric in international communication (Roring, 2018), human relationships and interpersonal closeness through the perspective of social penetration theory (Rorong, 2018), and women?s opinions following the relocation of Kalijodo residents to the Pulogebang flats through the lens of muted group theory (Girsang, 2018).
