Pendidikan Karakter dan Fenomena Konflik Sosial Berujung Pada Tindakan Kekerasan Kolektif

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the causes of collective violence in the scientific community. One of several findings of the causes of collective violence in the scientific community is the lack of application of character education. Type of research is qualitative with phenomenological approach. The research data obtained through observation, interviews, focus group discussions, as well as documentation for further analyzed by descriptive analytic interpretative technique. The results showed that a lack of understanding, appreciation, and practice (application) on the meaning and focus of the development of character education that is life behaved / benevolent either to another party (Almighty God, man and the universe) and against yourself, man tend to forget about the virtuous life that is full of life, including self-oriented virtuous, self-control and moderation, other oriented virtuous; such generousity and compassion to be one of the causes of collective violence in the scientific community, so it can be concluded that the lack of understanding, appreciation and practice of character education to be one of the causes of collective violence in the scientific community.
