Salah satu upaya bagi industri pertahanan untuk menunjukkan kapasitas senjata yang mereka produksi dan hasilkan adalah melalui ekspor ke negara-negara dengan potensi konflik yang signifikan dan kebutuhan peralatan pertahanan yang berkelanjutan. Struktur keamanan internasional yang muncul setelah perang dingin digambarkan semakin kompleks dengan berbagai interaksi, termasuk transfer teknologi dan awal untuk mendorong penguatan industri pertahanan di negara-negara berkembang.
